About Skill Lab
Skill Lab is a multi-award-winning production company specializing in bold narrative projects that combine fiction, animation, and immersive media.
Founded in 2010 by Julien Becker and Gwenael François, the company draws its inspiration from geek culture and a constant drive for visual innovation.
Among its standout creations, the interactive XR experience OTO’S PLANET has made a mark internationally, winning the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival 2024 and earning awards in Tokyo, Geneva, and Manchester.
The project was also selected for the VR competition at Annecy 2024.
Skill Lab has also gained recognition in short film production, with acclaimed works such as 22:22 (Best Fiction Short Film at the Luxembourg Filmpräis), ARTICLE 19–42, LUPUS, and BELLEVUE.
In 2021, the studio produced AN ZERO, an ambitious transmedia project combining fiction, documentary, and a mobile app, co-produced with ARTE.
In the realm of virtual reality, Skill Lab continues to explore new forms of storytelling with ERRANCES, a contemplative experience directed by Gwenael François, and MAMIE LOU, an immersive fable co-produced with Small Creative, selected for the VR competition at Annecy 2024.
From the big screen to VR headsets, Skill Lab creates stories that resonate emotionally, visually, and technologically.
