Clio Van Aerde
Artist – Scenographer
About Clio Van Aerde
Clio Van Aerde is a transdisciplinary artist and scenographer based in Luxembourg, working across performance art, choreography, site-specific and durational art, sculpture, and installation as well as stage and costume design. Trained at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien, her practice moves fluidly between performing arts, visual arts, public space and collective processes.
Her work approaches attention as a poetic and quietly subversive force. By focusing on subtle, often overlooked relations between bodies, objects, and spaces, she invites to slow down and reconsider everyday dynamics. Rooted in embodied experience and spatial awareness, her projects open space for idleness, absurdity, and critical reflection, gently challenging dominant ideas of productivity and performance.
Awarded the Edward Steichen Award in 2024, Van Aerde works between solo practice and collaboration, notably with the international collectives Billy Jump and Antropical, fostering shared artistic research across borders.
